5-Day Samburu, Ol Pejeta & Aberdares Safari Itinerary.

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve.

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel or the airport and depart Nairobi for Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya. Enjoy scenic views as you travel through plantations, mountainous landscapes and the semi-arid northern region.

You will cross the Equator before continuing to Samburu. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at your lodge or camp, followed by some time to relax before an afternoon game drive. Samburu is famous for its unique wildlife, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and Beisa oryx.

Overnight: Samburu Sopa or Similar.

Day 2: Full Day Samburu National Reserve.

Spend the full day exploring Samburu National Reserve with morning and afternoon game drives. Search for elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes and the reserve’s unique Northern Kenya species.

You may also enjoy an optional cultural visit to a local Samburu village to experience the traditions and lifestyle of the Samburu people.

Overnight: Samburu Sopa or Similar.

Day 3: Samburu – Ol’ Pejeta Conservancy.

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive to Ol’ Pejeta Conservancy, also known as Sweetwaters. The conservancy is located on the Equator between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya.

Upon arrival, enjoy lunch followed by some leisure time and an afternoon game drive. Ol’ Pejeta is home to the Big Five and is particularly well known for its rhino conservation efforts.

You may also visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary or enjoy optional activities such as a guided nature walk, lion tracking or a night game drive.

Overnight: Sweetwaters Serena Camp or Similar.

Day 4: Ol’ Pejeta – Aberdare National Reserve.

After breakfast, depart Ol’ Pejeta and drive towards Aberdare National Reserve. Arrive at Aberdare Country Club in time for lunch before being transferred by lodge vehicle to The Ark Lodge.

The Ark offers a unique wildlife-viewing experience from its viewing decks overlooking a waterhole and salt lick. You may see elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, hyenas, bushbucks and several species of monkeys.

The Aberdare forest is also home to rare species such as the giant forest hog, bush pig, tree hyrax and the elusive bongo antelope.

Overnight: The Ark Lodge or Similar.

Day 5: Aberdare National Reserve – Nairobi.

After breakfast, enjoy some final wildlife viewing from the lodge’s viewing decks before being transferred back to Aberdare Country Club.
