SAW SCALED VIPER, the most ruthless assassins’.
Do you enjoy learning about unusual vipers? Vipers belonging to the family Viperidae and the genus Echis are known as saw scaled vipers. Echis carinatus is the scientific name for these vipers, and it is distinguished by its hard, upward-pointing keeled scales and a brown body that helps it blend in with its environment, making it practically invisible.
This species of viper is only found in Central Asia, specifically India. They can also be found in the Middle East and in Sri Lanka. Echis carinatus is a highly aggressive and venomous species. They have a lethal venom and a high death rate if bitten.
In fact, scientists believe the saw-scaled viper is the deadliest of all snakes. It is thought to have killed more people than all other snake species combined. Its venom, on the other hand, is only harmful in around 10% of untreated victims, but the snake’s aggression means it bites early and often, and in the areas where these vipers live, they kill more people than any other snake species.
