12-Day Uganda Wildlife & Gorilla Safari Itinerary.

Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe International Airport.

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where you will be met by your safari guide and transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe/Kampala. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing after your journey and preparing for the safari ahead.

Overnight: Entebbe/Kampala.

Day 2 – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & Murchison Falls National Park.

After breakfast, depart for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exciting guided rhino trekking experience. This is an opportunity to see Uganda’s southern white rhinos in their natural surroundings.

Continue your journey towards Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park. Upon arrival, proceed to the Top of the Falls, where you will hike to viewpoints overlooking the dramatic Murchison Falls as the Nile River forces its way through a narrow gorge.

Overnight: Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 3 – Boat Safari & Game Drive in Murchison Falls National Park.

Start the day with a boat safari on the Victoria Nile towards the base of Murchison Falls. The cruise offers excellent opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants and numerous bird species along the riverbanks.

After lunch, enjoy a jeep game drive through the park in search of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, with luck, lions and other wildlife.

Overnight: Murchison Falls National Park.

Day 4 – Murchison Falls to Kibale National Park.

After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls National Park and drive southwards towards Kibale National Park. The journey takes you through Uganda’s scenic countryside, local communities and changing landscapes.

Arrive at Kibale and check in at your accommodation. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the following day’s chimpanzee trekking experience.

Overnight: Kibale National Park.

Day 5 – Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary.

After breakfast, head into Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking. Accompanied by experienced trackers and guides, explore the forest in search of habituated chimpanzee communities. The forest is also home to several species of monkeys, birds and other wildlife.

Later, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided swamp walk. Explore the wetlands on foot while looking out for monkeys, colourful birds and other wildlife.

Overnight: Kibale National Park.

Day 6 – Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Game Drive.

After breakfast, depart Kibale and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse wildlife areas.

Upon arrival, enjoy a jeep game drive through the park. Depending on the route and wildlife movements, you may encounter elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, lions and a variety of bird species.

Overnight: Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 7 – Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari.

Begin the morning with another game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, taking advantage of the cooler morning hours when wildlife is often more active.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, one of Uganda’s most rewarding wildlife experiences. The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is famous for its concentration of hippos, crocodiles, elephants and water birds.

Overnight: Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 8 – Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After breakfast, depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes you through the beautiful highlands of southwestern Uganda, with scenic views of rolling hills, forests and local villages.

Arrive in the Bwindi area and check in. The remainder of the day is at leisure as you prepare for your gorilla trekking adventure.

Overnight: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 9 – Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Rushaga.

Today is the highlight of your safari: mountain gorilla trekking in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing before beginning your trek into the ancient rainforest. The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once you find them, you will have a memorable opportunity to observe these magnificent primates in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to your accommodation and relax.

Overnight: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 10 – Bwindi to Lake Mburo National Park.

After breakfast, depart Bwindi and drive towards Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy the scenic journey through southwestern Uganda, passing through rolling hills, farmlands and local communities.

Arrive at Lake Mburo National Park and settle into your accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you may have some time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Overnight: Lake Mburo National Park.

Day 11 – Walking Safari & Game Drive in Lake Mburo National Park.

Begin the day with a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. Walking provides a different perspective of the park and allows you to experience the wildlife and landscape at ground level.

Later, enjoy a jeep game drive through the park. Lake Mburo is known for zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, warthogs, giraffes and other wildlife.

Overnight: Lake Mburo National Park.

Day 12 – Lake Mburo to Entebbe/Kampala & Departure.

After breakfast, depart Lake Mburo National Park and drive back towards Entebbe/Kampala.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a final stop or refreshments along the way before being transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your flight home.
